#177 Emotiva Ultra 12: $849 Discontinued eBay

Newer model: the Emotiva X-Ref 12, ranked higher, rated 3.4/5, released Nov 2011 (also discontinued). See every Emotiva Ultra and X-Ref generation.

Pros: A sealed 12 inch subwoofer with a durable long-throw woofer and a crossover defeat switch, now discontinued. It has a 300W Class-D amplifier (500W peak) in a sealed enclosure tuned to 25Hz, and measures 108.2dB average from 40 to 80Hz. Controls include a 50 to 150Hz crossover, volume, 0 to 180 degree phase and a low pass filter defeat switch. The heavy butyl rubber surround is built for durability, and rubber and aluminum feet suit carpet or hardwood.

Cons: Output falls to 100.0dB at 31.5Hz and 88.0dB at 20Hz, so it lacks the deepest bass for big home theaters. It costs a lot for a 300W sealed 12-inch sub with a 108.2dB average. It is discontinued, so you would be buying used, and it has no app or room correction.
