#121 ELAC PS350: $1,698.00 Amazon $1,698.00 eBay
Same family: the ELAC Varro PS250 (smaller subwoofer, ranked lower, estimated 3.5/5) and the ELAC Varro PS500 (larger subwoofer, ranked higher, estimated 3.8/5).
Pros: A 12 inch ported subwoofer with automatic room EQ and a phone app that can manage several subwoofers together. A 12” ported subwoofer with 350W RMS that averages 112.2dB from 40 to 80Hz and is rated down to 24Hz. Its 700W peak amplifier drives a large 2” voice coil for power handling. An Auto EQ system compensates for room acoustics, and an iOS/Android app controls multiple subs.
Cons: Output drops quickly below 31.5Hz, reaching 99.4dB at 25Hz and 85.5dB at 20Hz, so the deepest movie effects are weak despite the 24Hz rating. It costs a lot for a 112.2dB average from 40 to 80Hz, which other 12-inch subs match for less. It is 21.8kg and 437mm tall, so it needs a fair amount of room.
