Pros: Up-firing drivers give genuine overhead effects, and TechRadar found dialogue very clear in most scenes. It shares the calibration, AirPlay 2 and HDMI passthrough of Sony Bravia Theater Bar 9. Audio Advice found that adding a Sony sub lifts it above the bigger bar used alone, so it suits buyers who plan to expand.

Cons: On its own the bass is thin, so explosions and scores sound small. What Hi-Fi heard flat dynamics and voices that sit back in the mix, and RTINGS noted the side drivers can blur speech. In a large room it struggles to sound big, and there is no optical input.
