#2 KEF XIO: $2,399.99 Amazon $2,399.99 eBay

Pros: The XIO sounds detailed and refined, with music that plays like a hi-fi system rather than a TV speaker. Force-cancelling bass drivers reach deep without a separate sub, and up-firing Uni-Q drivers give convincing height. A What Hi-Fi? comparison placed it ahead of the Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Max, with tighter bass. It decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and streams over AirPlay, Google Cast and Bluetooth.

Cons: At least one detailed review heard a boxy midrange and some compression when pushed loud. Early units had HDMI control and handshake bugs. There is no HDMI input, and rear speakers are not supported yet, so surround relies on the bar alone.
