Pros: For a slim single bar it produces surprisingly deep, room-filling bass, so films have weight without a separate sub. What Hi-Fi gave it five stars for clear dialogue and a convincing sense of space. Room calibration, an HDMI passthrough and AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Spotify Connect make it easy to live with.

Cons: The surround and height effects are processed, so sound rarely seems to come from above. What Hi-Fi found Sonos Beam (Gen 2) crisper and more detailed, and music sounds less refined than movies. There are no rear speaker or sub upgrades.
