Short answer: the Stormbox Max is the current model and the step up in power, bass and waterproofing, while the discontinued Stormbox Pro is lighter, lasts longer and has aptX.
The Max is the bigger 360° speaker. Tribit rates it at 60W against the Pro’s 40W, from a 30W woofer and four 7.5W silk dome tweeters where the Pro used a 76mm woofer, two 40mm full range drivers and two passive radiators. Tribit rates the Max down to 53Hz against the Pro’s 60Hz, and adds an XBass 2.0 knob that adjusts bass in 1.25dB steps. The Max has not been measured independently yet, so those figures are Tribit’s own.
It is tougher and better connected. The Max moves from IPX7 to IP68, so it is dustproof as well as waterproof, and from Bluetooth 5.3 to 6.0 with a 9 band app EQ, a built-in mic, USB-C charging out for a phone and Auracast linking alongside stereo pairing.
The Pro keeps a few advantages. Its rated battery life is 24 hours against the Max’s 20, it weighs 980g against 1184g, it supports aptX where the Max has AAC, and it has an aux input. Both play mono from a single unit, with stereo only from a matched pair.
Buy the Stormbox Max if you want the more powerful, deeper and more rugged current model.
Buy the Stormbox Pro only if you find one at a clear discount and value its longer battery, lighter weight and aptX over the newer model’s output.

Older model: the Tribit Stormbox Pro (rated 3.7/5).
Pros: A 30W woofer and four 7.5W silk dome tweeters spread around the cabinet for 360° sound, 60W in total against the Stormbox Pro’s 40W. Tribit rates the response down to 53Hz, and an XBass 2.0 knob adjusts the bass in 1.25dB steps. IP68 dust and water protection, a 20 hour rated battery, and a USB-C port that can charge a phone. Bluetooth 6.0 with AAC, a 9 band app EQ with 6 presets, a built-in mic for calls, stereo pairing with a second unit and Auracast linking for 100+ speakers.
Cons: No independent measurements or tested reviews have been published yet, so its tonal balance, bass extension and loudness can’t be compared with ranked speakers. A single unit plays mono, and stereo needs a second Stormbox Max, since it won’t pair with other Tribit models. Rated battery life drops to 20 hours from the Stormbox Pro’s 24, it weighs 1.18kg against 980g, and the aptX support of the Stormbox Pro is gone. Charging takes about 4 hours on a 5V/3A charger, and the USB-C output is limited to 5V/1A.

Tribit Stormbox Pro: $90 Discontinued eBay
Newer model: the Tribit Stormbox Max. It’s likely to perform similarly, though we can’t confirm that yet.
Pros: 24 hour battery life (60% volume, XBass off); doubles as a power bank. IP67 rated. Multi-point Bluetooth 5.3 pairing. Measured bass extension of 58Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Bottom woofer was fixed in a later firmware, upgrade for best sound. Peaky mids, highs rolled off. Not technically a 360 speaker, only front and rear. Discontinued; Tribit has retired it.
