Soundcore Boom 2 vs JBL Flip 7

Last updated: October 14, 2026

These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The Soundcore Boom 2 ranks #10 of 105 large speakers by sound quality at $99.99; the JBL Flip 7 ranks #15 of 175 medium speakers by sound quality at $89.95.

Soundcore Boom 2 vs JBL Flip 7

The Soundcore Boom 2 is the louder, deeper-bass choice. Pretty deep bass for the size. Its bass reaches about 47Hz before falling 10dB, against 59Hz for the JBL Flip 7. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 105dB at full volume, against 100dB for the JBL Flip 7. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 14 for the JBL Flip 7. Watch for: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters.

The JBL Flip 7 is the lighter option. A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. At 1.2 lbs (560 g) it weighs much less than the Soundcore Boom 2 at 3.7 lbs (1.68 kg). It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Soundcore Boom 2 lacks. The catch: A little bit of a bump at 4kHz, not quite as neutral as the JBL Flip 6.

Buy the Soundcore Boom 2 at $99.99 for a large speaker, or the JBL Flip 7 at $89.95 for a medium speaker instead.

Soundcore Boom 2 ranking card

Older model: the Soundcore Motion Boom (ranked lower, rated 4.5/5). See every Soundcore Boom generation.

Same family: the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus (larger model, rated 3.6/5).

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble. Measured bass extension of 47Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, which is best left off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.
