Short answer: the Brane X for the higher ranking, the Soundcore Boom 2 for the lower price. The Brane X ranks #4 of 75 large speakers at $500. The Soundcore Boom 2 ranks #10 at $89.99, $410.01 cheaper.
What the Brane X gets right: Very deep bass, the absolute deepest from this category. The tradeoff: Boosted upper bass ~120hz, rolled off treble, so it’s missing detail up top.
On the Soundcore Boom 2 side: Pretty deep bass for the size. The tradeoff: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters.
Buy the Brane X if the ranking matters more than the price. Buy the Soundcore Boom 2 if the price matters more than the ranking.

Brane X: $500 Amazon
Pros: Very deep bass, the absolute deepest from this category. Medium bass boost is the most balanced.
Cons: Boosted upper bass ~120hz, rolled off treble, so it’s missing detail up top. Battery life isn’t great in real world use. High priced. Annoying robot voice announcements. A lot of aux input latency.

Soundcore Boom 2: $89.99 Amazon Bhphotovideo
Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble.
Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, I’d recommend turning it off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.
