Short answer: the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt, if you are buying new. The MartinLogan Dynamo 700w ranks higher than it (#25 vs #46 of 73 subwoofers, 3.4/5 vs 3.2/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt is still sold new at $224.99.
The case for the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt: A low cost ported 8 inch subwoofer with a 200 watt amp, an easy entry point for a first subwoofer. The catch: Very compact 18.5 lbs (8.4 kg) size, limited 106.4 dB output, ported room interaction, and entry-level build.
The case for the MartinLogan Dynamo 700w: A discontinued compact sealed 10 inch subwoofer that adds upper bass weight to movies and music. Watch for: Deep-bass output is more limited than the strong 40-80 Hz result suggests, so it is not the right choice when the lowest movie effects are the priority.
Buy the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt if you want one new; the MartinLogan Dynamo 700w is discontinued, so only look for it used.
