What the JTR Speakers Growler (2015) does well: A 12 inch ported subwoofer with output close to far bigger flagships, a strong used pick now that it is discontinued. The catch: Ported design room interaction, 99.2 lbs (45 kg) size, and $2995 cost.

Buy the JTR Speakers Captivator S2 or the JTR Speakers Growler (2015), whichever you find used in better condition; both are discontinued. For a new speaker, start with the JTR Speakers Orbit Shifter PRO instead.
