Short answer: the Partybox 1000 if you have AC power, the Soundboks 4 if you need to run cordless. They rank #2 and #29 out of 51, and the Partybox 1000 costs $99.05 less.
The single biggest difference is power. The Partybox 1000’s cons are direct: no battery and no app, meaning it needs to stay plugged into AC power the entire time it’s running. Its pros lean into what that tradeoff buys: a 1100W system with a 12 inch down-firing woofer, 2x 7 inch midrange drivers, and a compression horn tweeter, described as right up there with the larger Partybox Ultimate and a better value than it, plus a waterfall light show. The Soundboks 4 goes the opposite direction, with pros calling it tied for the loudest battery-powered speaker, thanks to a removable 40 hour battery and high efficiency drivers that reach 2 to 3 times the volume of typical speakers for the same wattage.
Size and handling favor the Soundboks despite its own bulk. The Partybox 1000 weighs 34kg against the Soundboks 4’s 15.4kg, and the Soundboks’s cons note it’s still very large, not as neutral or as deep in the bass as the Partyboxes, not stereo, and it relies on an external power brick to charge that removable battery.
Buy the Partybox 1000 if you’ll mostly use it somewhere with AC power available and want maximum output and a better rated speaker for less money.
Buy the Soundboks 4 if cordless operation for hours at a stretch matters more than outright rank or price.
If water resistance matters to you, the Soundboks 4 at IP65 (water jets) holds up far better than the JBL Partybox 1000 at no water resistance.

Pros: Handle and wheels are convenient. Right up there with the Partybox Ultimate, this was the previous speaker in that size. A better value than the Partybox Ultimate. Nice waterfall lightshow.
Cons: Very large and heavy. No battery. No app.
