JBL Partybox 1000 vs Teufel Rockster 2

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Partybox 1000. It ranks #2 of 11 large party speakers by sound quality at $1099.95; the Teufel Rockster 2 ranks #3 and costs $1269.94, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

What the JBL Partybox 1000 offers: Handle and wheels are convenient. Right up there with the Partybox Ultimate, this was the previous speaker in that size. Set against that: Very large and heavy. No battery. No app. Note, JBL daisychain is not compatible with any other non-JBL speaker and is possibly a fully digital signal.

On the Teufel Rockster 2 side: Sounds better and more evenly tuned than the JBL Partybox 720. Horn-loaded tweeter gives far more consistent off-axis sound, unlike the Partybox 720’s dual tweeters, which suffer from comb-filtering interference. The catch: Not quite as deep bass as the JBL Partybox 720. Bass output drops off further at high volume.

Buy the JBL Partybox 1000. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Teufel Rockster 2 and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

Pros: Sounds better and more evenly tuned than the JBL Partybox 720. Horn-loaded tweeter gives far more consistent off-axis sound, unlike the Partybox 720’s dual tweeters, which suffer from comb-filtering interference. Gets louder without distorting - the Partybox 720 starts breaking up at high volume well before this does. Projects clearly over long outdoor distances, covering a large area evenly.

Cons: Not quite as deep bass as the JBL Partybox 720. Bass output drops off further at high volume.
