JBL Partybox 1000 vs JBL Partybox 720

The 1000 trades all-around convenience for scale. It has no battery at all and no companion app, both called out directly in its own cons. It is also larger and heavier than the 720, at 75 pounds against 68.3, and it has no water resistance rating where the 720 carries IPX4 splash protection. What it gets in return is more raw output: 1100W against the 720’s 800W, from a driver setup built around a 12 inch down-firing woofer, dual 7 inch midranges, and a compression horn tweeter. Its own pros describe it as right up there with the Partybox Ultimate, JBL’s flagship, and a better value than that model.

The 720 is the one you can actually take somewhere. It runs 15 hours on its removable battery, and our notes call it the biggest, best sounding speaker with a battery in its class. Its own downside is tonal rather than structural: it runs somewhat dark by default and needs some treble boost to sound neutral, a fixable EQ issue rather than a hardware limitation like the 1000’s missing battery.

Everything else lines up closely: both have karaoke-mode microphone input, guitar input, USB power bank output, EQ, and stereo output, and both support wired USB playback.

Buy the Partybox 1000 if you want the most output in this pairing and always plan to run it plugged in near an outlet.

Buy the Partybox 720 if you need to move it without a wall outlet, want the app and Auracast support the 1000 lacks, or want to save $0.

Pros: JBL’s most powerful battery-equipped PartyBox combines 800W output, two removable batteries, wheels, a light show, Auracast, USB-C playback, app EQ and karaoke/guitar inputs. Independent testing confirms very high output, strong bass and a flexible 5- or 7-band EQ; it can easily cover a backyard or large event.

Cons: At 31kg and 94cm tall, it is still cumbersome despite the wheels. Its front-facing vertical driver layout gives uneven sound to listeners at the sides or behind it, bass compresses at very high volume and reviewers note a faint hiss. The default is dark/bass-heavy, so use the app EQ and do not expect a neutral indoor hi-fi speaker.
