JBL Charge 6 vs Soundcore Boom 2 Pro

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Different classes, so treat this as a step-up-or-not question rather than a head-to-head. The JBL Charge 6 ranks #12 of 175 medium speakers by sound quality at $119.95; the Soundcore Boom 2 Pro ranks #38 of 99 boombox speakers by sound quality at $139.99.

JBL Charge 6 vs Soundcore Boom 2 Pro

The JBL Charge 6 is the lighter option. Seems more neutral than the JBL Charge 5. At 2.2 lbs (990 g) it weighs much less than the Soundcore Boom 2 Pro at 8.4 lbs (3.8 kg). Watch for: Still some boosted bass by default.

The case for the Soundcore Boom 2 Pro: A tougher version of the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus with IP68 dust and water protection instead of IPX7, a metal front grille, and a body that floats. It keeps a wired aux input, which the JBL Charge 6 lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the JBL Charge 6. Watch for: No side-by-side sound comparisons yet, so its rating is estimated from the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus, which shares its drivers and amplifier.

Buy the JBL Charge 6 at $119.95 for a medium speaker, or the Soundcore Boom 2 Pro at $139.99 for a boombox speaker instead.

JBL Charge 6 ranking card

Older models: the JBL Charge 5 (ranked lower, rated 4/5), the JBL Charge 4 (ranked lower, rated 3.5/5), the JBL Charge 3 (ranked lower, rated 3.2/5) and the JBL Charge 2 (ranked lower, rated 3.2/5). See every JBL Charge generation.

Pros: Seems more neutral than the JBL Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the JBL Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here. IP68 protection, a 7-band app EQ, Auracast, USB-C charging and a power bank output. With EQ it beat the Marshall Stockwell III in Alan Ross’s live A/B. Measured bass extension of 53Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2kHz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.

Soundcore Boom 2 Pro ranking card

Pros: A tougher version of the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus with IP68 dust and water protection instead of IPX7, a metal front grille, and a body that floats. Inside it is the same 140W design with two woofers and two tweeters for real stereo, plenty of bass with BassUp, a 9 band app EQ, aux input, a detachable shoulder strap, a 10W USB-C power bank and PartyCast for linking more speakers.

Cons: No side-by-side sound comparisons yet, so its rating is estimated from the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus, which shares its drivers and amplifier. That means the same warm stock tuning with upper bass boost and a dip from the upper mids into the treble that dulls vocals, and owners say it needs EQ. Reviewers found it loses fullness and gets a bit fatiguing at its very highest volume.
