Short answer: the Earfun Uboom L for sound quality, unless you need JBL’s extra battery life and durability. It ranks #1 of 142 medium speakers against the Charge 6’s #11, and costs $150.16 less.
The tuning gap is the whole story here. The Uboom L was tuned by Oluv and measures as one of the most neutral Bluetooth speakers around, sounding correct at every volume level because it boosts bass and treble at low volumes to match the ear’s equal-loudness curve. The Charge 6 improves on the Charge 5’s rolled-off treble but still has a distinctly V-shaped response: boosted bass by default, recessed mids, and some brightness above 2kHz.
The Charge 6 answers back with battery, ruggedness, and party features. It runs 24 hours against the Uboom L’s 16, carries an IP68 rating versus IP67, and adds Auracast party mode and USB-C power bank output, none of which the Uboom L offers. The Uboom L counters with an aux input, a built-in microphone, and true stereo output, none of which the Charge 6 has.
One real usability catch on the Uboom L: Bluetooth latency is 400ms unless you enable low latency mode (66ms), and that mode doesn’t work once two units are TWS paired, so video watchers in stereo-paired setups may notice lip sync issues the Charge 6 doesn’t have.
Buy the Earfun Uboom L for the most neutral, correct-sounding tuning available at this price, unless lag while TWS paired is a dealbreaker.
Buy the JBL Charge 6 if you need longer battery life, tougher waterproofing, or Auracast party pairing more than you need flat frequency response.

Pros: One of the strongest small-speaker values for music: reviews praise clear vocals, a natural overall balance and a genuinely convincing stereo image when two are paired. IP67 protection, indoor/outdoor sound modes and Video Mode make it unusually adaptable; Video Mode substantially improves lip-sync for a single speaker. Measured bass extension of 56Hz (-10dB).
Cons: It cannot produce real low-bass rumble or fill a large, noisy space, and the top end loses some detail. Low-latency Video Mode disables stereo pairing, so a two-speaker setup is not a good movie system. Firmware and app behavior have also varied over the model’s long life, and the physical controls can be easy to trigger in a bag.
Setup: Try setting up the Earfun App (Android or iOS) to see if that works. If not, you’ll need to flash firmware 1.2.7 to work with the app and set with Oluv’s EQ in the Earfun app which sounds the best. The instructions say that you need a USB3 cable, but most USB2 cables work just fine, try the one included with your phone. Check the current firmware version by turning it on, then pressing the power and Bluetooth buttons at the same time. In TWS mode, long press the outdoor button for 2 seconds to change TWS to Party mode and back.

Pros: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here. Measured bass extension of 53Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2kHz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.
