At $60 it is a very neutral, good sounding small speaker with quite deep bass for its size, with only a slight DSP issue that lightens bass at very low volumes. The JBL Charge 6 costs $149.95 and is more neutral than the Charge 5 with a flatter frequency response through the mids and treble, but it still boosts bass by default, recesses the mids and sounds bright above 2kHz.
Buy the JBL Charge 6 new; the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.
Battery life favors the JBL Charge 6: rated for 24 hours against 12 hours for the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021.

Older model: the Soundcore Boost “original model” pre-2021 (ranked lower, rated 4.2/5).
Pros: A very neutral good sounding inexpensive small speaker with quite deep bass for the size. This upgraded version has a usb-c port while the old one has micro usb. Measured bass extension of 56Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Slight DSP tuning issue which makes bass get lighter at times at very low volumes, examples in oluv’s video. Discontinued and no longer sold new.

Pros: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here. IP68 protection, a 7-band app EQ, Auracast, USB-C charging and a power bank output. Measured bass extension of 53Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2kHz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.
