Short answer: it comes down to features, since both are neutral. The Sonos Roam is very neutral, IP67 rated at about 1 lbs (454 g) and adds rare wireless Qi charging, but its bass extension is not very good, it is not stereo and it distorts if you turn up the bass. The JBL Charge 6 is more neutral than the Charge 5 with a flatter response through the mids and treble, though it still has boosted bass, recessed mids and brightness above 2kHz.
Buy the JBL Charge 6. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the Sonos Roam is discontinued, so it is only available used.
Water resistance is not close: the JBL Charge 6 is rated at IP68 (extended submersion), well ahead of the Sonos Roam at IPX5 (water jets).

Pros: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here. IP68 protection, a 7-band app EQ, Auracast, USB-C charging and a power bank output. Measured bass extension of 53Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2kHz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.
