JBL Charge 6 vs KEF Muo gen2

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Charge 6. It ranks #11 of 136 medium speakers by sound quality at $199.95; the KEF Muo gen2 ranks #73 and costs $249.99, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

On the JBL Charge 6 side: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Set against that: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz.

The case for the KEF Muo gen2: KEF seemed to have fixed the rolled off treble and overall balance. The tradeoff: Lacking deeper bass. Very thuddy bass. Appears to be the exact same hardware but with updated tuning.

Buy the JBL Charge 6. It ranks higher for sound quality than the KEF Muo gen2 and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

Pros: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here

Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.

Pros: KEF seemed to have fixed the rolled off treble and overall balance

Cons: Lacking deeper bass. Very thuddy bass. Appears to be the exact same hardware but with updated tuning. Bass distorts as volume increases, and the claimed 43Hz extension is really only audible at low listening volumes, with a few seconds of lag after volume changes. Loses most of its bass off-axis. Customer reviews are mixed, ranging from praise for detail at low volume to complaints of a boxy, hollow sound.
