JBL Charge 6 vs Dayton Audio Boost

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Charge 6 for better sound quality, the Dayton Audio Boost for the lower price. The JBL Charge 6 ranks #11 of 136 medium speakers at $199.95. The Dayton Audio Boost ranks #118 at $29.98, $169.97 cheaper.

What the JBL Charge 6 offers: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. The tradeoff: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz.

The case for the Dayton Audio Boost: Compact soda-can design, dual passive radiators, IPX5 waterproof, wireless stereo pairing capability, MicroSD card support. Set against that: Some midrange peaks, treble slightly rolled off. Not much bass. Same hardware as the Boat Stone 350/352/358.

Buy the JBL Charge 6 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Dayton Audio Boost if the price matters more than sound quality.

If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Dayton Audio Boost. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.

If battery life is a priority, the JBL Charge 6 is rated for 24 hours versus 6 hours for the Dayton Audio Boost.

Pros: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here

Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.
