JBL Charge 6 vs Cabasse Swell

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Charge 6. It ranks #11 of 136 medium speakers by sound quality at $199.95; the Cabasse Swell ranks #102 and costs $300, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

On the JBL Charge 6 side: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. The catch: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz.

What the Cabasse Swell offers: Compact, pocketable design (750g). Can pair two Swells for a 120W stereo system. Watch for: Bass boosted. Bass gets distorted and thuddy. Mids recessed.

Buy the JBL Charge 6. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Cabasse Swell and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Cabasse Swell. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.

If battery life is a priority, the JBL Charge 6 is rated for 24 hours versus 10 hours for the Cabasse Swell.

Pros: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here

Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.
