Coverage note. Speaker Ranking currently covers 11 MartinLogan models across passive speakers and subwoofers. These are the products in our database, not a complete list of everything MartinLogan makes.
What this page covers. The MartinLogan models ranked here span passive speakers and subwoofers, including MartinLogan Dynamo 1600X, MartinLogan Dynamo 1100X and MartinLogan Dynamo 1500X. Use each model’s category position to compare it with alternatives of the same size and use case.
This page lists all 11 MartinLogan speakers ranked on this site across passive speakers and subwoofers. Each model is shown in the category where it competes, with its current rank and the size of that ranking.
Use the category position rather than the brand name alone: speakers from the same manufacturer can perform very differently by size, price and product family.

Medium Size Bookshelf Speakers
Ranked #35 of 90 in Medium Size Bookshelf Speakers - MartinLogan Motion B10: $1,299.98 per pair Crutchfield eBay
Pros: MartinLogan’s folded-motion tweeter technology (a 9.2 sq in diaphragm, larger than a typical dome) reaches this price point, with an excellent sound-power smoothness score of 0.111, meaning its off-axis output tracks its on-axis response unusually well. Sensitivity of 92dB makes it easy to drive. Measured bass extension of 74.7Hz (-3dB).
Cons: On-axis deviation of 0.669dB is rough for the price, with a pronounced +0.32dB per octave upward tilt giving it a notably bright balance, and predicted in-room smoothness of just 0.16, the roughest of any speaker measured here. Bass extension is shallow too, a Harman in-room estimate of just 62Hz.

Ranked #64 of 90 in Medium Size Bookshelf Speakers - MartinLogan Motion 4i: $461.82 per pair Amazon Crutchfield eBay
Pros: Best treated as a satellite: crossing it to a subwoofer lifts its predicted preference score from 2.73 to 6.36, so the shallow bass matters far less in a 2.1 or home-theater setup. Directivity is the strong point, with sound-power deviation (NBD 0.426) lower than its on-axis figure (0.547), meaning the off-axis output tracks the front more evenly than most budget cabinets and the image stays stable around the room. The Folded Motion tweeter measures cleanly for the price, and 87.5dB measured sensitivity (2.83V/1m) means modest amplifiers drive it easily. Measured bass extension of 159.7Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 87.5dB.
Cons: Bass-shy to the point of needing a subwoofer: the measured -3dB point is 159.7Hz, so on its own it produces almost nothing below roughly 160Hz. The balance is bright and uneven, deviating 2.7dB across 300Hz-5kHz with a clear upward tilt, and the review’s verdict is a “bass-shy, bright” speaker. A port resonance near 850Hz and high woofer distortion add audible roughness through the midrange, and impedance dips below 3 ohms, so it wants an amplifier comfortable with low-impedance loads.

Large Size Bookshelf Speakers
Ranked #83 of 134 in Large Size Bookshelf Speakers - MartinLogan Motion XT B100: $1,699.98 per pair MartinLogan Dealer Network eBay
Pros: A premium 6.5-inch standmount with MartinLogan’s large folded-motion tweeter and high rated sensitivity. Erin’s data predicts 55Hz in-room extension, a 6.35 subwoofer-assisted preference score and good 0.153 sound-power smoothness. Measured bass extension of 71.8Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The measured response rises strongly at +0.84dB per octave and directivity-index consistency is a poor 4.34, so tonal balance and off-axis behavior are less neutral than the price implies. The cabinet is large, heavy and $850 per pair before stands.

In-Wall & In-Ceiling Speakers
Ranked #17 of 18 in In-Wall & In-Ceiling Speakers - MartinLogan Tribute 5XW: $6,999.98 per pair Audio Advice eBay
Pros: Erin’s Audio Corner’s Klippel measurement shows a rated 94dB sensitivity that measured a still efficient 88.1dB at 1 meter, so it plays loudly for its size. The folded thin-film Folded Motion XT Obsidian tweeter rotates for horizontal or vertical mounting, and it pairs two carbon fiber woofers with two 6.5” passive radiators in a sealed box. It accepts 20-250W of amplifier power and mounts with a slim 3.8” depth behind the wall. Measured bass extension of 74.7Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 94dB.
Cons: The measurement is the weakest of the in-wall speakers here: a preference score of 1.84, or just 4.91 with a perfect subwoofer, with on-axis smoothness of 0.30, an average on-axis deviation of 1.56dB and wide directivity swings (SPDI deviation 3.25dB). Bass measured -3dB at only 74.7Hz, so a subwoofer is required, and MartinLogan rates it to 71Hz. At $3500 each a stereo pair costs twice that and MartinLogan sells it through dealers.

Ranked #106 of 146 in Medium Home Subwoofers (30-75 lbs) - MartinLogan Dynamo 12: $1599.99 Crutchfield eBay
Pros: Independent CEA-2010 testing records 91.7 dB at 20 Hz and 110.6 dB through 40-80 Hz. The sealed enclosure with 12” (305mm) anodized-aluminum driver suits a mid-size room. Anthem Room Correction (ARC Genesis) and app-based control simplify setup.
Cons: Nearly all controls, including low-pass frequency and phase, are app-only, with no physical switches for systems that lack separate bass management.

Pros: Independent CEA-2010 testing records 93.5 dB at 20 Hz and 106.4 dB through 40-80 Hz. The sealed enclosure combines a 10” active driver with dual 10” passive radiators in a compact 15” cube. Anthem Room Correction (ARC) and wireless streaming simplify integration.
Cons: Most controls, including low-pass frequency and phase, require the smartphone app, with sparse physical controls on the unit itself.

Small Home Subwoofers (Under 30 lbs)
Ranked #19 of 48 in Small Home Subwoofers (Under 30 lbs) - MartinLogan Dynamo 700w: $999 Discontinued eBay
Pros: Independent CEA-2010 testing records 86.3 dB at 20 Hz and 109.0 dB (avg of 3/4 bands) through 40-80 Hz. The sealed enclosure with 10” (254mm) driver delivers substantial upper-bass output for movie effects and music.
Cons: Deep-bass output is more limited than the strong 40-80 Hz result suggests, so it is not the right choice when the lowest movie effects are the priority. The 318.5H x 296.9W x 318.3D mm cabinet and 12.0 kg mass still require deliberate placement and calibration. Discontinued.
