Every Speaker With aptX HD Bluetooth Support

Last updated: September 3, 2026

6 ranked speakers support aptX HD, Qualcomm’s higher-bitrate step up from standard aptX, running up to 576 kbps against standard aptX’s 352 kbps. It targets 24-bit audio rather than aptX’s 16-bit, though on a portable Bluetooth speaker the driver and cabinet are almost always the real ceiling on resolution, not the codec. Both ends of the connection need aptX HD specifically - support for plain aptX doesn’t imply it - so check your phone’s codec list, not just whether it does aptX at all.

For every aptX variant together, see aptX speakers, or Bluetooth codecs explained for the full picture on why codec choice matters far less on a speaker than on headphones.

Portable Bluetooth Speakers

Large Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers

Ranked #4 of 77 in Large Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers, last listed at $500 - Brane X: $500 Amazon eBay

Brane X ranking card

Pros: Very deep bass, the absolute deepest from this category. Medium bass boost is the most balanced.

Cons: Boosted upper bass ~120hz, rolled off treble, so it’s missing detail up top. Battery life isn’t great in real world use. High priced. Annoying robot voice announcements. A lot of aux input latency.

Ranked #58 of 77 in Large Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers, last listed at $750.00 - Dali Katch G2: $750.00 Amazon eBay

Dali Katch G2 ranking card

Pros: Pretty neutral

Cons: Loses bass quickly after 40% volume. A lot of compression artifacts at high volume. External AC power brick for charging. Horribly overpriced. Nearly identical to the Dali Katch G1. Reverb added to the output screws up the imaging. Quite a hollow character to the sound.

Boombox Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers

Ranked #9 of 75 in Boombox Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers, last listed at $800 - Vifa Copenhagen 2.0: $800 Amazon eBay

Vifa Copenhagen 2.0 ranking card

Pros: Fabric finish is easy to clean and cozy to touch. Durable - dropped from 2m with only minor scratches. Wi-Fi/AirPlay/wired (optical, aux, USB) in addition to Bluetooth. ~5 hour battery at full volume.

Cons: 350hz and 2-3khz peak. The Vifa Helsinki is cheaper and generally has a more neutral frequency response, I’d highly recommend getting one of those instead if you specifically want a Vifa. Not sure I can recommend this one generally these days, the Uboom L has 95% of the sound quality with more features and a way cheaper price. No water rating.

Party Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers

Ranked #13 of 51 in Party Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers, last listed at $499.99 - Teufel Rockster Air 2: $499.99 Amazon eBay

Teufel Rockster Air 2 ranking card

Pros: More consistent off-axis sound than the JBL Partybox 130, thanks to its single horn-loaded compression driver. Projects sound more evenly to the sides, unlike the JBL’s narrower front-firing dispersion. Cleaner instrument separation at high volume than the JBL Partybox 130, which turns anemic and loses bass at max volume despite its bass boost.

Cons: Bass isn’t as deep as the JBL Partybox 130’s boosted bass, though the JBL’s is boomy rather than truly deep. Bass and treble aren’t perfectly controlled at maximum volume - can sound hollow or too bright unless turned down from default. Not meaningfully louder than its 3-year-old predecessor, and the reviewer found the overall tuning a bit worse.

Ranked #38 of 51 in Party Size Portable Bluetooth Speakers, last listed at $1000 - Diamondboxx L2: $1000 eBay

Diamondboxx L2 ranking card

Pros: High-fidelity Class A/B amps with good bass response and clear sound at all volumes. Fills large spaces at under 50% volume, comparable to medium bookshelf speakers. Stable bass response even at 15-20% volume. 6-48 hours battery on 400+ watts (9 hours full recharge). Built-in 2.1A USB power for charging devices. Over 1000 recharge cycles.

Cons: Boomyness in the 100hz region. Gets distorted. Too much treble. Too expensive.

Powered Speakers

Small Size Powered Bookshelf Speakers

Ranked #3 of 22 in Small Size Powered Bookshelf Speakers, last listed at £529/pair - Audio Smile Little British Monitor: 529 GBP/pair Audio Smile eBay

Audio Smile Little British Monitor ranking card

Pros: For an 8 inch tall, 1.7kg desktop monitor it posts the highest preference score of any small powered monitor in this batch. The low frequency rolloff has an unusually low Q of 0.30, meaning it fades away cleanly rather than building into a resonant boomy peak the way many small monitors do near their extension limit. On axis deviation measures just 0.085dB average, the second tightest figure in this whole batch behind only the AsciLab A6B. Hand built in England with an active DSP crossover and aptX HD Bluetooth.

Cons: The compact 3 inch mid woofer limits bass extension to a measured 71.8Hz at -3dB, so this is a nearfield desktop speaker rather than a room filling one. 50W plus 50W of Class A/B power and a narrow +/-1dB treble trim limit its output ceiling next to larger active monitors at similar money. It’s a boutique UK product sold direct from the manufacturer, so buyers outside the UK pay import shipping.
