Brand: RBH Sound
#56 RBH Sound SX-12: $1,099 Discontinued eBay
Same family: the RBH Sound SX-10R (smaller subwoofer, ranked lower, rated 3.6/5) and the RBH Sound SX-1212PR (larger subwoofer, rated 4.2/5).
Pros: A ported 12 inch subwoofer with strong output for large rooms, balanced connections and a curved, solid cabinet, now discontinued. It uses a 12 inch aluminum cone with a 350W RMS amplifier and is rated flat to 27Hz. Measured output averages 115.4dB from 40 to 80Hz and reaches 101.0dB at 25Hz. XLR and RCA inputs with LFE in and out make it easy to connect. The curved side panels are meant to reduce standing waves inside the cabinet.
Cons: Output drops to 90.7dB at 20Hz, so the deepest movie effects are limited. It weighs 24.0 kg and is about 54 cm deep. The price is high for a 12 inch sub of this output. It is discontinued, so it has to be bought used.
