#33 KRK Systems 12S: $899 Discontinued eBay
Newer model: the KRK S12.4, ranked higher, estimated 3.9/5, released Jan 2026. See every KRK S Subwoofers generation.
Pros: A 12 inch studio subwoofer with smooth, deep bass, balanced inputs and little port noise, now discontinued. It pairs a 12 inch Kevlar driver with a 240W RMS amplifier in a front ported cabinet. Measured output averages 117.1dB from 40 to 80Hz and peaks at 118.7dB at 50Hz, which suits a large room. It has XLR, TRS and RCA stereo inputs.
Cons: Output falls steeply below 31.5Hz, to 99.1dB at 25Hz and 92.8dB at 20Hz, and it is rated only down to 32Hz, so the deepest film effects are limited. It is a large 460 by 405 by 575mm cabinet weighing 30.2kg. It is discontinued, so it has to be bought used, and a newer model replaced it.
