#128 Emotiva S12: $449 Discontinued eBay
Same family: the Emotiva S10 (smaller subwoofer, ranked lower, rated 3/5).
Pros: A 12 inch subwoofer with a passive radiator and balanced input that makes running several subwoofers together easy. It has a 12 inch driver with a 300W class D amplifier and a measured 111.4dB average CEA-2010 output from 40 to 80Hz. It is rated 25 to 150Hz and is priced at $449. The XLR and RCA inputs make it simple to use multiple subs.
Cons: Output falls to 95.4dB at 20Hz and 86.4dB at 15Hz, so the deepest effects are weak. At 30kg and 441 by 400 by 429mm it is heavy and bulky. It has no USB, HDMI or optical inputs and no app or room correction. It is discontinued, so it has to be bought used.
