Short answer: the Xdobo X8 Max, though neither ranks well in its class. It ranks #83 of 115 large speakers by sound quality, rated 2.9/5, at $105.99. The W-King D9 ranks #93, rated 2.5/5, at $89.98, $16.01 cheaper, a saving that is not big enough to make up the sound-quality gap. Both are rated below 3.0/5 among the 115 large speakers, and the Tribit Stormbox Lava, ranked #3 at $119.99, is a better place to start if sound quality matters.
The Xdobo X8 Max is the better-sounding pick. A feature packed waterproof boombox with a huge battery, power bank output, and enough volume for outdoor background music. The catch: The voicing is bass-heavy with thin, boosted highs that can turn harsh, and reviews report distortion rather than clean dynamics when pushed hard.
The W-King D9 is the longer-running, lighter option. A compact, punchy boombox with a very long rated battery, water resistance, and power bank output for casual outdoor use. It is rated for 40 hours of battery against 15 for the Xdobo X8 Max. At 4.4 lbs (2 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the Xdobo X8 Max at 6.3 lbs (2.86 kg). The catch: Treble rolls off early, limiting air and fine detail, while owner reports note Bluetooth interference and some noise at maximum speaker volume.
Buy the Xdobo X8 Max. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $16.01 you would save on the W-King D9 does not close the gap.
