Short answer: the Brane X on measured sound quality, the Xdobo X8 Max on price. The Brane X ranks #4 of 115 large speakers, rated 4.6/5, at $549. The Xdobo X8 Max ranks #83, rated 2.9/5, at $105.99, $443.01 cheaper.
What the Xdobo X8 Max does well: A feature packed waterproof boombox with a huge battery, power bank output, and enough volume for outdoor background music. Watch for: The voicing is bass-heavy with thin, boosted highs that can turn harsh, and reviews report distortion rather than clean dynamics when pushed hard.
The Brane X is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. A portable speaker with extraordinarily deep bass for its size, plus Wi-Fi, AirPlay, Alexa and a low latency aux input. Its bass reaches about 31Hz before falling 10dB, against 52Hz for the Xdobo X8 Max. It supports aptX HD Bluetooth, which the Xdobo X8 Max lacks. It links with other speakers (Brane app, up to 8 speakers), which the Xdobo X8 Max cannot. The tradeoff: The front-facing design has only moderate dispersion, so sound changes noticeably off to the sides or behind it.
Buy the Xdobo X8 Max if the price matters more than sound quality. Buy the Brane X if sound quality matters more than the price.
