Short answer: the Tribit Stormbox Lava. It ranks #3 of 115 large speakers by sound quality, rated 4.6/5, at $119.99. The Xdobo X8 Max ranks #83, rated 2.9/5, at $105.99, $14 cheaper, not enough of a saving to outweigh the sound-quality gap.
The Tribit Stormbox Lava is the better-sounding, deeper-bass pick. A loud, waterproof large speaker with strong bass, a long battery and an aux input, for far less than its rivals. Its bass reaches about 44Hz before falling 10dB, against 52Hz for the Xdobo X8 Max. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 15 for the Xdobo X8 Max. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Xdobo X8 Max lacks. The catch: XBass can make the low end muddy and obscure vocals, while the deepest notes lose authority and clarity falls at maximum volume.
The case for the Xdobo X8 Max: A feature packed waterproof boombox with a huge battery, power bank output, and enough volume for outdoor background music. The tradeoff: The voicing is bass-heavy with thin, boosted highs that can turn harsh, and reviews report distortion rather than clean dynamics when pushed hard.
Buy the Tribit Stormbox Lava. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $14 saving on the Xdobo X8 Max is not enough to make up the difference.
