Short answer: the Turtlebox Ranger. It ranks #62 of 173 medium speakers by sound quality (rated 3.5/5) at $250 and is still sold new; the Sony XB33 ranks #73 (rated 3.4/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used. The Sony XB33’s replacement, the Sony ULT Field 3, is rated 3.4/5 at $208.
The XB33 is the more feature-rich speaker. Its pros highlight app-controlled color LED lighting, Party Connect for linking up to 100 speakers, and roughly 19 hours of real-world battery life without the lights running. It is also lighter at 2.4 lbs (1.1 kg) than the Ranger. Its downside is tuning: the cons describe upper bass peaks, a midrange dip, and upper midrange peaks that add up to a speaker that isn’t very neutral, plus a design that automatically turns itself down rather than holding max volume.
The Ranger’s case is mostly about ruggedness and simplicity. Its pros point to a smoother frequency response than the other Turtlebox models and a magnetic mount, but its own cons call the bass thuddy and not as deep as higher ranked speakers, and flag it as overpriced and heavy for its size.
Everything else matches: both are IP67 rated and use USB-C charging.
Buy the XB33 if you want app lighting, multi-speaker linking, and longer battery life for less money.
Buy the Ranger if simplicity and a magnetic, no-frills rugged build matter more to you than extra features.

A very tough outdoor speaker with built in magnets for mounting it on metal surfaces.
