The Motion+ needs a little EQ work to hit its full potential, but the hardware underneath is solid. It uses separate tweeters alongside its woofers, giving it more bass at full volume and better off-axis treble response than the Earfun Uboom L, though it isn’t quite as neutral or detailed out of the box. With the default EQ it’s only okay; the site’s own notes recommend a third-party EQ preset, or the Wavelet app on Android, to get it properly neutral, and without that correction it would rank considerably lower in its class.
The X8’s single full-range driver is a hard ceiling on its sound quality. Its own notes describe a harsh midrange and rolled-off treble with audible distortion, and bass extension that only reaches around 65Hz. It can get surprisingly loud and full-bodied for its size, and it packs a useful practical feature set with IPX5 splash resistance, aux and microSD playback, and TWS pairing, but its own notes are clear it doesn’t have the clarity or control for attentive listening.
Battery life and durability favor the X8: it’s rated for 15 hours against the Motion+’s 12, though the Motion+ counters with a higher IPX7 rating, aptX codec support, and a 9-band app EQ that the X8 lacks entirely.
Buy the Soundcore Motion+ if you can find one used and are willing to apply an EQ preset, since the underlying hardware still ranks near the top of its class.
Buy the Xdobo X8 only if the price is the deciding factor and you don’t need clarity or detail, just background noise or outdoor loudness on a budget.

The Two Speakers In Full
Soundcore Motion+: $79.99 used, Discontinued Amazon eBay
Pros: The previous best sounding in class, still a great speaker with separate tweeters, more bass at full volume and better off-axis treble frequency response than the Uboom L. Just okay with the default EQ, I highly recommend using this EQ setting from r/kai7895 to get it more neutral. To achieve the absolute best sound you’ll need the Wavelet app (Android only) and set the provided Wavelet EQ in there too. Turn off the wavelet EQ for outdoor use. An alternative is Oluv’s EQ which only needs the Soundcore app EQ. Measured bass extension of 54Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Not quite as neutral or detailed as the Uboom L. Without the above EQ, this speaker will rank around #25 in the rankings. Discontinued.
