Short answer: the Soundcore Motion+ if sound quality matters most, the W-King D8 Mini if price matters most. The Soundcore Motion+ ranks #3 of 136 medium speakers at $79.99. The W-King D8 Mini ranks #106 at $38.93, $41.06 cheaper.
What the Soundcore Motion+ offers: The previous best sounding in class, still a great speaker with separate tweeters, more bass at full volume and better off-axis treble frequency response than the Uboom L. Just okay with the default EQ, I highly recommend using this EQ setting from r/kai7895 to get it more neutral. To achieve the absolute best sound you’ll need the Wavelet app (Android only) and set the provided Wavelet EQ in there too. Turn off the wavelet EQ for outdoor use. An alternative is Oluv’s EQ which only needs the Soundcore app EQ. Watch for: Not quite as neutral or detailed as the Uboom L. Without the above EQ, this speaker will rank around #25 in the rankings.
What the W-King D8 Mini offers: 30W output with switchable indoor/outdoor EQ modes. IPX6 rated with a 5000mAh battery. Watch for: Recessed midrange, harsh treble. Bass doesn’t go as deep as others.
Buy the Soundcore Motion+ if sound quality is the priority over the price, or the W-King D8 Mini if the price is the priority over sound quality.
Skip the W-King D8 Mini if sound quality matters to you. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers.
There is a real battery-life gap here: the W-King D8 Mini is rated for 24 hours, the Soundcore Motion+ only 12 hours.
