Short answer: the Boom 2, and it’s cheaper too. It ranks #10 of 78 large speakers at $99.99; the Sound Party ranks #19 of 142 medium speakers at $133.62, $33.63 more for a weaker relative placement in a larger field.
Both need a small tuning adjustment to hit their potential. The Boom 2’s stock tuning would rank around #24 without a corrected EQ from Oluv or Alan Ross, due to boosted bass and rising treble. The Sound Party’s own pros already call it pretty balanced overall and more neutral than the [JBL Charge 5](/portable/speakers/JBL-Charge-5/), with a thuddy bass at high volume and a peak at 180Hz as its real complaints.
The Boom 2 has one real limitation: a single midrange driver, so stereo separation comes only from the tweeters, a tradeoff the Sound Party doesn’t share.
Buy the Boom 2 for the stronger ranking and lower price, once EQ’d. Buy the Sound Party if you want a more neutral sound straight out of the box.

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble. Measured bass extension of 47Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, which is best left off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.

Xiaomi Sound Party: $133.62 Aliexpress eBay
Pros: An unusually versatile 1.2kg outdoor speaker: IP67 dust/water protection, USB-C power-bank output, NFC pairing, lights, stereo pairing and a claimed 26-hour battery life. Several independent reviews describe a warm, generally balanced sound with clear vocals and useful bass impact when Bass Boost is off. It is also easy to carry thanks to the retractable handle. Measured bass extension of 54Hz (-10dB).
Cons: The sound evidence is mixed rather than universally glowing. One lab review found it loud but flat and unclean with blurred treble, while others hear the Bass Boost mode as boomy upper bass that can bottom out at high volume. It is not the strongest choice for a large party: tested output is around 94dB and rivals such as the Soundcore Boom 2 play louder with deeper bass. SBC is the only Bluetooth codec and there is no aux input.
