In a direct comparison the Boom 2 comes out ahead. The reviewer who tested the Cross 2 found it struggles somewhat against the Boom 2. The Boom 2 reaches about 47Hz and measured about 105dB. The Cross 2 measured about 101dB with EQ.
The Boom 2 needs setup. Turn BassUp off and use one of the community EQs linked on its page, since the stock tuning is bass heavy and a little bright. Its bass notes can also drop out at low volume.
The Cross 2 has the better connectivity and battery. It has a 3.5mm aux input, a USB-C sound card, multipoint pairing and AAC, and claims 38 hours against the Boom 2’s 24.

Older model: the Soundcore Motion Boom (rated 4.5/5).
Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble. Measured bass extension of 47Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, which is best left off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.

Teufel Rockster Cross 2: €249.99 Teufel eBay
Older model: the Teufel Rockster Cross (rated 4.2/5).
Pros: Keeps the original Rockster Cross’s sound, which was fairly neutral and vocal focused with punchy, well controlled bass, and the new Teufel Go app EQ gets noticeably more bass punch out of it than the original could manage. Claimed battery life more than doubles to 38 hours, or 46 in Eco Mode. USB-C charging with a power bank output and a built-in USB-C sound card, a 3.5mm aux input, multipoint pairing, AAC, and Party Link for a true stereo pair or up to 100 current Teufel speakers.
Cons: It uses the same drivers and amplifier as the 2018 original, so without EQ the two sound almost identical, even at maximum volume, and it measured about the same 101dB. In a direct comparison it struggles somewhat against the Soundcore Boom 2. aptX was dropped, water protection is still only IPX5 (water jets, not submersion), Party Link does not work with the original Cross, and the app’s bass and treble controls are limited. It is not sold in the US.
