Soundcore Boom 2 vs Soundcore Motion X500

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Short answer: the Soundcore Boom 2 ranks #10 of 77 large speakers by sound quality at $99.99; the Soundcore Motion X500 ranks #24 at $99.99. Close enough in price that the sound-quality gap is the deciding factor.

What the Soundcore Boom 2 gets right: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. The catch: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters.

The case for the Soundcore Motion X500: 40W stereo with 3-driver layout (two tweeters + woofer). IPX7 weatherproof rating. Set against that: A little bright on top, a custom EQ can flatten things out a bit. Peaks at 250hz and dip at 1khz.

Buy the Soundcore Boom 2. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Soundcore Motion X500 at the same price, so there is no real case for the other one.

If battery life is a priority, the Soundcore Boom 2 is rated for 24 hours versus 12 hours for the Soundcore Motion X500.

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble.

Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, I’d recommend turning it off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.
