The Sony SRS-XG300’s replacement, the Sony ULT Field 5, is rated 3.5/5 at $348.
The Soundcore Boom 2 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. Pretty deep bass for the size. Its bass reaches about 47Hz before falling 10dB, against 54Hz for the Sony SRS-XG300. At 3.7 lbs (1.68 kg) it weighs much less than the Sony SRS-XG300 at 6.6 lbs (3 kg). It has an adjustable EQ, which the Sony SRS-XG300 lacks. Watch for: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters.
What the Sony SRS-XG300 does well: IP67 dust/waterproof rating. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Soundcore Boom 2 lacks. The catch: Overly expensive.
Buy the Soundcore Boom 2. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Sony SRS-XG300 is no longer sold new.

Same family: the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus (larger model, rated 3.6/5).
Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble. Measured bass extension of 47Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, which is best left off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.

Pros: IP67 dust/waterproof rating. Bluetooth 5.2 with multipoint pairing, LDAC codec support. Retractable carry handle for easy portability. Big boomy bass-forward sound, excellent for parties. Fast-charging: 10 minutes gives 70 minutes playback. Stamina mode optimizes battery. Measured bass extension of 54Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Overly expensive. Bass not as deep as competitors. Upper mids peak. Hollow sounding. Rolled off treble. Not much clarity. Does not float. Speaker will not remain at max volume and will turn itself down automatically. Discontinued.
