Short answer: the Soundcore Boom 2. It ranks #10 of 78 large speakers by sound quality at $89.99; the Devialet Mania ranks #40 and costs $899, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.
What the Soundcore Boom 2 offers: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble. Watch for: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, I’d recommend turning it off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.
What the Devialet Mania offers: Small, nice looking. Watch for: Not very loud. Extremely high price. Bass boosted. Tweeters are not aimed at you and there’s a huge treble rolloff off-axis as compared to the Beoplay P6 in the comparison video. Only 10 hours of battery. Oluv didn’t like the upper mids or treble (mentioned on his Patreon)
Buy the Soundcore Boom 2. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Devialet Mania and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.
There is a real battery-life gap here: the Soundcore Boom 2 is rated for 24 hours, the Devialet Mania only 10 hours.
If water resistance matters to you, the Soundcore Boom 2 at IPX7 (brief submersion) holds up far better than the Devialet Mania at IPX4 (splashing).
