Short answer: the Soundcore Boom 2 offers bigger party-speaker energy for its size; the Bose SoundLink Plus is the more refined, rugged compact choice. Bose brings cleaner mids and a tougher package, while Soundcore leans into bass and visual fun.
The Boom 2 reaches respectably low and uses illuminated passive radiators for a more festive presentation. Because it has only one midrange driver, stereo separation is limited, which makes it less convincing for close, focused listening.
The SoundLink Plus is IP67 rated and approaches 20 hours of battery life, with clean mids and a vibrant sound. Its bass is boosted and thuddy rather than especially deep, so it is not automatically the best Bose pick for bass lovers.

Older model: the Soundcore Motion Boom (ranked lower, rated 4.5/5).
Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble. Measured bass extension of 47Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, which is best left off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.

Pros: IP67 rated, IP67 water/dustproof. Close to 20 hour battery life. Vibrant sound with booming bass, clean mids. Bluetooth 5.4 with good range. Premium tactile grille, smooth silicone. Quality build at $179.
Cons: Boosted thuddy bass, but not as deep as the SoundLink Flex and you should probably just buy one of those instead if you want a Bose.
