Short answer: the Soundcore Boom 2. It ranks #10 of 77 large speakers by sound quality at $89.99; the B&O Beosound A5 ranks #12 and costs $1650, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.
Where the Soundcore Boom 2 shines: It has pretty deep bass for its size and cool lights in the side passive radiators, and it sounds best with Oluv’s or Alan Ross’s EQ applied since the stock tuning, with its boosted bass and rising treble, would only rank around #24. The flip side: it has only a single midrange driver so stereo comes only from the tweeters, suffers from inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low listening levels, gets overly bass heavy with BassUp turned on, and runs about 5dB bright in the treble.
What stands out about the B&O Beosound A5: It has a pretty neutral sound. The compromise: there isn’t enough good sound sample data yet to rank it properly.
Buy the Soundcore Boom 2. It ranks higher for sound quality than the B&O Beosound A5 and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

Soundcore Boom 2: $89.99 Amazon Bhphotovideo
Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble.
Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, I’d recommend turning it off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.
