Short answer: the Boom 2, and it’s much cheaper too. It ranks #10 of 76 large speakers at $89.99; the ULT Field 5 ranks #40 at $198, $108 more.
Our own cons entry for the ULT Field 5 doesn’t oversell it. Bass not as deep as others in the category, sound quality that’s just okay overall, and a ULT button that makes a really loud tone when pressed. It does offer IP67 rating, a 25-hour battery, and a 10-band app EQ.
The Boom 2 needs a corrected EQ to hit its ranked potential, moving from around #24 on stock tuning to its actual #10 placement once Oluv’s or Alan Ross’s EQ is applied, with a single midrange driver as its structural limitation.
Buy the Boom 2 for the far better value once EQ’d. Buy the ULT Field 5 if Sony’s feature set specifically matters to you.

Soundcore Boom 2: $89.99 Amazon Bhphotovideo
Pros: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble.
Cons: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, I’d recommend turning it off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.
