Minirig 3 vs JBL Charge 3

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Short answer: both are discontinued, so this only matters if you are buying used. Used, the Minirig 3 is the better pick: it ranks #8 of 164 medium speakers by sound quality (rated 4.3/5), against #88 (rated 3.2/5) for the JBL Charge 3. If you want one new, the Earfun Uboom L ranks #2 at $49.79.

Minirig 3 vs JBL Charge 3

The Minirig 3 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass pick. Modular, can easily attach a subwoofer. Its bass reaches about 53Hz before falling 10dB, against 63Hz for the JBL Charge 3. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 105dB at full volume, against 100dB for the JBL Charge 3. It is rated for 30 hours of battery against 20 for the JBL Charge 3. The tradeoff: Calls itself splash resistant and has no official water rating.

The JBL Charge 3 is the tougher pick. Doubles as a 6000mAh power bank for USB devices. ~20 hour battery life. It is rated IPX7 against Splash resistant for the Minirig 3. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Minirig 3. Watch for: Less clarity than the Flip 4.

Buy the Minirig 3 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the Earfun Uboom L instead.
