Soundcore Motion 300 vs Minirig 3

The Soundcore Motion 300 is the tougher pick. Pretty deep bass for the small size. It is rated IPX7 against Splash resistant for the Minirig 3. It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Minirig 3 lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Minirig 3. The tradeoff: Without the above EQ or turning the top 2 treble EQ bars to max, this speaker is very rolled off in the treble and will rank around #50 in the rankings.

The Minirig 3 is the louder, longer-running pick. Modular, can easily attach a subwoofer. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 105dB at full volume, against 101dB for the Soundcore Motion 300. It is rated for 30 hours of battery against 13 for the Soundcore Motion 300. At 1.2 lbs (550 g) it weighs noticeably less than the Soundcore Motion 300 at 1.7 lbs (772 g). Watch for: Calls itself splash resistant and has no official water rating.

Buy the Soundcore Motion 300. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the Minirig 3 is discontinued, so it is only available used.

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the small size. Pocket size in a big pocket. Can be used in stereo facing you, or omnidirectional lying down. Ability to have a custom EQ for each orientation, standing, lying flat, hanging. Try the Uboom L EQs from Oluv for a more neutral sound. Measured bass extension of 50Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Without the above EQ or turning the top 2 treble EQ bars to max, this speaker is very rolled off in the treble and will rank around #50 in the rankings. Bassup mode is worse than Signature. Not quite as detailed or neutral as higher ranked speakers. Slight bass distortion when turned up.

Cons: Not stereo. Calls itself splash resistant and has no official water rating. App is buggy. Wireless TWS pairing is buggy. A bit expensive. Has reliability issues more often than any other speaker. Discontinued; Minirig now sells only the Minirig 4, and the old product page redirects to it.
