Short answer: the Soundcore Motion+ for sound quality, the Miatone Boompro for price. The Motion+ was the previous best sounding in its class and still pairs separate tweeters for a strong performance, though it is not quite as neutral or detailed as the Uboom L. The Boompro’s tradeoff is bass that extends slightly less than higher ranked speakers, at $35.99.
On the Miatone Boompro side: Exactly the same as the Wisetiger P3 below. The catch: Slightly less bass extension than higher ranked speakers.
The case for the Soundcore Motion+: The previous best sounding in class, still a great speaker with separate tweeters. The tradeoff: Not quite as neutral or detailed as the Uboom L.
Buy the Miatone Boompro new; the Soundcore Motion+ is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.

Pros: Exactly the same as the Wisetiger P3 below. By far the best sounding speaker under $50. Actually very well balanced. Very balanced even at full volume. Short press the power button to change the lighting mode.
Cons: Slightly less bass extension than higher ranked speakers.

Soundcore Motion+: $79.99 used, Discontinued Amazon eBay
Pros: The previous best sounding in class, still a great speaker with separate tweeters, more bass at full volume and better off-axis treble frequency response than the Uboom L. Just okay with the default EQ, I highly recommend using this EQ setting from r/kai7895 to get it more neutral. To achieve the absolute best sound you’ll need the Wavelet app (Android only) and set the provided Wavelet EQ in there too. Turn off the wavelet EQ for outdoor use. An alternative is Oluv’s EQ which only needs the Soundcore app EQ. Measured bass extension of 54Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Not quite as neutral or detailed as the Uboom L. Without the above EQ, this speaker will rank around #25 in the rankings. Discontinued.
