JBL Partybox 330 vs Earfun Uboom X

Last updated: August 20, 2026

These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The JBL Partybox 330 ranks #1 of 50 party speakers by sound quality at $629.95; the Earfun Uboom X ranks #1 of 73 boombox speakers by sound quality at $128.

On the JBL Partybox 330 side: Handle and wheels are convenient. Set against that: Sound quality is nearly identical to the 310 and Stage 320 despite the power bump, so probably not worth an upgrade if you already own either of those.

The case for the Earfun Uboom X: Deeper bass than the Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. The tradeoff: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible.

One note: the Earfun Uboom X is discontinued, but it still ranks #1 of 73 boombox speakers by sound quality, ahead of most of what is still sold new, so it is worth considering used.

Buy the JBL Partybox 330 at $629.95 if you want a party speaker. Buy the Earfun Uboom X at $128 if you want a boombox speaker instead.

If battery life is a priority, the Earfun Uboom X is rated for 30 hours versus 18 hours for the JBL Partybox 330.

If water resistance matters to you, the Earfun Uboom X at IP67 (brief submersion) holds up far better than the JBL Partybox 330 at IPX4 (splashing).

Pros: Handle and wheels are convenient. Customizable lightshow. Removable battery. Slightly more power than the 310 and Stage 320 (280W vs 240W). Adds an optical TV input and USB-C lossless playback, plus dual mic and guitar inputs for karaoke and live sets.

Cons: Sound quality is nearly identical to the 310 and Stage 320 despite the power bump, so probably not worth an upgrade if you already own either of those. Removed the dedicated mic gain and microphone control knobs found on the 310/320. Some people don’t like the new lightshow design. Very large. Note, JBL daisychain is not compatible with any other non-JBL speaker and is possibly a fully digital signal.

Earfun Uboom X: $128 Discontinued Myearfun Amazon

Earfun Uboom X ranking card

Pros: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Deeper bass than the Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level due to Oluv’s individual EQ settings at each volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour. Just considering the midrange and treble, this speaker is better sounding than the Earfun Uboom L.

Cons: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible. Some people have mentioned sound interruption issues when using 2 in TWS, I don’t have this issue with my Pixel 7 Pro, try disabling AAC in that case. Discontinued.

Setup: Please update it using the Earfun app (Android or iOS) and select an Oluv EQ. The Earfun app has sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 which are all fantastic. Oluv has a newer firmware pack that brings it up a few more notches of neutral
