Short answer: the JBL Partybox 1000. These rank #3 and #10 out of 12 large party speakers, and the gap is mostly about bass behavior at volume, not raw loudness.
The power gap is enormous on paper. JBL rates the Partybox 1000 at 1100W against the ULT Tower 10’s 139W, and the Partybox pairs its 12 inch down-firing woofer with a compression horn tweeter, versus the ULT Tower’s 12.6 inch woofer and array of small tweeters. Our notes call the ULT Tower 10 louder than JBL’s own Partybox Ultimate, so it is not a quiet speaker, but the notes are explicit that it loses more bass at high volume than even lower-end Partybox models, and that bass drops off a lot as you turn it up. The Partybox 1000 is instead described as right up there with the Partybox Ultimate, at a better value.
What the ULT Tower 10 adds:
- A companion app, which the Partybox 1000 lacks entirely.
- Auracast party mode for linking up to 100 speakers, versus no party mode on the Partybox 1000.
- A wireless microphone included in the box, plus AAC and LDAC Bluetooth codec support on top of SBC.
What neither speaker has: a built-in battery. Both are AC-powered only, and both weigh well over 60 lbs, so plan on wheeling them rather than carrying them; the Partybox 1000 does have a handle and wheels built in.
Buy the JBL Partybox 1000 for the more consistent bass at party volume and the stronger amplifier, especially if you don’t need app control or Auracast linking.
Buy the Sony ULT Tower 10 if the app, Auracast multi-speaker linking, and included wireless mic outweigh the bass rolloff at high volume for your use case.

Pros: Handle and wheels are convenient. Right up there with the Partybox Ultimate, this was the previous speaker in that size. A better value than the Partybox Ultimate. Nice waterfall lightshow.
