These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The JBL Grip ranks #80 of 144 medium speakers by sound quality at $99.95; the Sony SRS-XB100 ranks #33 of 47 small speakers by sound quality at $63.
Neither leads on sound quality. The Grip lacks deeper bass and clarity, with rolled off highs and a wavy midrange. The XB100 has little bass and sounds much like the older XB13. Both are rated low within their classes, so pick on features.
The Grip is the bigger speaker, a medium at 385 g with 16W, IP68, a 7-band app EQ, Auracast linking and an ambient light on the back. It lasts a claimed 14 hours.
The XB100 is the smaller one, at 274 g with a strap for bags and gear, IP67, a built-in microphone for calls, AAC and about 17 hours of real world battery. It has no EQ.

Pros: Ambient light on the back with settable themes. Measured bass extension of ~68Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Lacking deeper bass, definitely the worst of the JBL line until you get to the smaller clip. Not as much clarity as higher ranked speakers, rolled off highs and wavy midrange

Sony SRS-XB100: $63.00 Amazon eBay
Older models: the Sony SRS-XB13 (rated 2.8/5) and the Sony SRS-XB12 (rated 2.5/5).
Pros: Long real-world battery life (~17 hours in testing). IP67 rated and pocketable at 267g, with a clip for bags/gear. Can stereo-pair two units.
Cons: Not much bass. Seems pretty much the same as the XB13, maybe a teeny bit deeper bass and a little less muddy.
