The JBL Grip is the lighter option. A small, fully waterproof speaker with app EQ, ambient lighting, Auracast linking and USB-C audio input. At 0.8 lbs (385 g) it weighs much less than the LG Xboom Grab at 1.5 lbs (680 g). Watch for: Lacking deeper bass, definitely the worst of the JBL line until you get to the smaller clip.
The LG Xboom Grab is the longer-running choice. A rugged waterproof speaker with elastic mounting straps, a long 20 hour battery, multipoint pairing and app room calibration. It is rated for 20 hours of battery against 14 for the JBL Grip. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the JBL Grip lacks. The tradeoff: Bass extension not as deep as the top speakers.
Buy the JBL Grip. It is rated higher for sound quality than the LG Xboom Grab and costs less, so only choose the other one for a particular feature it does better.
