These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The JBL Go 4 ranks #29 of 61 small speakers by sound quality at $49.95; the Tribit Stormbox Mini ranks #145 of 173 medium speakers by sound quality at $23.

The JBL Go 4 is the lighter option. A pocket sized waterproof mini speaker with a loop for hanging and app EQ. At 0.4 lbs (190 g) it weighs much less than the Tribit Stormbox Mini at 1.6 lbs (708 g). It has an adjustable EQ, which the Tribit Stormbox Mini lacks. The catch: Not much bass at all, especially with electronic/bass-heavy tracks pushed past ~50% volume.
The Tribit Stormbox Mini is the longer-running pick. A waterproof stereo speaker with RGB lighting and USB-C charging, now discontinued. It is rated for 12 hours of battery against 7 for the JBL Go 4. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the JBL Go 4 lacks. It keeps a wired aux input, which the JBL Go 4 lacks. The catch: Lacking quite a bit of bass.
One note: the Tribit Stormbox Mini is no longer in production and isn’t widely stocked new anymore. The Tribit Stormbox Mini’s replacement, the Tribit Stormbox Mini+, is still sold new.
Buy the JBL Go 4 ($49.95) for a small speaker; the Tribit Stormbox Mini ($23) suits a medium speaker instead.
