JBL Flip 7 vs Raymate R5

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7 for better sound quality, the Raymate R5 for the lower price. The JBL Flip 7 ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers at $129.95. The Raymate R5 ranks #97 at $20, $109.95 cheaper.

What the JBL Flip 7 offers: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. The tradeoff: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

The case for the Raymate R5: 20W output power, IPX7 waterproof, 16-hour battery life, Bluetooth 5.0, TWS stereo pairing, dual drivers with passive radiator, AUX input, USB-C charging, built-in microphone, lightweight 900g. Watch for: Not much bass, peaky upper mids.

Buy the JBL Flip 7 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Raymate R5 if the price matters more than sound quality.
