JBL Flip 7 vs Harman Kardon Esquire 2

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7. It ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers by sound quality at $129.95; the Harman Kardon Esquire 2 ranks #120 and costs $200, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

What the JBL Flip 7 gets right: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. The tradeoff: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

The case for the Harman Kardon Esquire 2: Doubles as a conferencing speakerphone with a 4-mic array and noise/echo cancellation. The catch: Bass is weak, vocal and instrument separation is underwhelming and sounds tinny at high volume.

Buy the JBL Flip 7. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Harman Kardon Esquire 2 and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Harman Kardon Esquire 2. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.

If battery life is a priority, the JBL Flip 7 is rated for 14 hours versus 8 hours for the Harman Kardon Esquire 2.

If water resistance matters to you, the JBL Flip 7 at IP68 (extended submersion) holds up far better than the Harman Kardon Esquire 2 at IPX4 (splashing).
