Different classes, so treat this as a step-up-or-not question rather than a head-to-head. The Devialet Mania ranks #54 of 117 large speakers by sound quality at $899; the Sonos Roam ranks #94 of 178 medium speakers by sound quality at $169.99.
The Devialet Mania is the deeper-bass option. A compact, good looking Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stereo speaker with Alexa built in and splash resistance. Its bass reaches about 47Hz before falling 10dB, against 63Hz for the Sonos Roam. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Sonos Roam lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Sonos Roam. The tradeoff: Not very loud.
The Sonos Roam is the lighter pick. A small, waterproof Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker with wireless charging, voice control and Sonos multiroom support. At 0.9 lbs (429 g) it weighs much less than the Devialet Mania at 5.1 lbs (2.3 kg). It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Devialet Mania lacks. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Devialet Mania lacks. The catch: Bass extension isn’t very good.
One note: the Sonos Roam is discontinued and no longer widely available new. The Sonos Roam’s replacement, the Sonos Roam 2, is still sold new.
Buy the Devialet Mania at $899 for a large speaker, or the Sonos Roam at $169.99 for a medium speaker instead.
